For a Clean and Green Kitchen

In the kitchen a range hood is one of those appliances that should definitely always be there and undoubtedly always used but in essence does not necessarily stand out. They are imperative for ridding your kitchen of excess grease, smoke and moisture. If your kitchen does not have one or you do not actually use it then it can lead to disgusting amounts of grease build-up and that is one thing that you absolutely do not want to have to clean up. Just imagine all that scraping and scouring and you will be horrified at where exactly you find it.

Fortunately for you and your kitchen there are cleaning products that will inspire you to do a cleaning rampage and perhaps the thought of tidying up with an arsenal of handy sprays, scrubbers and stain removers can make all that dirty work less exhausting. All that because of not using your range hood and whether you just want one good enough to put above the stove and blend in, there are so many selections to choose from. And in each type there is a range of sizes and styles that will match your kitchen, even if you just want to go all out or to just get by.

The standard version of a range hood is installed under cabinets above the stove. Its lines can vary in style but are generally pretty straight forward and it is a great option. The pop-up range ventilator does just what its name implies. It pulls the drafts from the stove down into it. It makes a great option for islands and peninsulas of if ceiling or upper cabinet space is limited. It can disappear from sight once cooking’s done. If your island holds the kitchen stove then you need a range hood just like if it were in the main portion of counter. Since islands are in the center of the room, grease could be dispersed even further around the kitchen. Not only are the hoods functional, but they can bring an added element to the island that further incorporates it into the kitchen.

That kitchen grease cleaner should be regularly used if you have such an appliance in your home. How do you keep the range hood clean? Since the range hood is used for sucking up grease and particles that come off of your cooking food, then it is definitely a good idea to periodically clean it. The filter should be taken off occasionally and washed in warm, soapy water. Let it soak then rinse and air dry before replacing it on the hood. The metal itself can also become caked in grease and dust if not periodically wiped with warm soapy water and a sponge. If the coating is bad, use ammonia and water and rinse. Abrasive pads and powders can damage the finish. Also keep an eye on the fan blades as they can also build up grease and dirt. This could restrict the air flow and cause overheating and thus a fire.

Manufacturers of cleaning supplies are now coming up with non-toxic, biodegradable products that are still strong enough to remove grease, has no harmful fumes and most importantly have no solvents or acids that can harm the environment.
